Is there a difference between 3D computer monitors and normal Monitors?

So i have an aleinware m17x computer that supports 3D gaming. What i've noticed about this screen is that there are very feint vertical lines running up and down the whole monitor and you can see it the most when it is against a plain surface such as the white part on this web page. It's an odd pattern. Is it because it's a 3D monitor?
