In your opinion, what makes a home "lived-in"?

I have heard my family say this about how a home looks, but I still have no idea what they mean by this phrase. How can you define or describe a "lived-in" home? My house is neat but has lots of papers and bills lying around the house. Would my home be classified as "lived-in" or just plain messy?
